Appeal Coaching + Appeal Writing

After the free denial letter review, both Appeal Coaching (you write, we review) and Appeal Writing (we write, you review) start with an initial Disability Appeal Planning Session. We’ll meet (in a phone or video conference) to discuss the denial letter review, strategize the best response from you and your doctor(s), and review the evidence that you’ll use to support your claim. At the end of the Planning Session, you will have an initial outline of your appeal and a strategy for what additional evidence to add.

Appeal Coaching doesn’t end there!

Next, you will work with your doctors and other appeal supporters to gather medical records and additional evidence for your claim. You’ll write your appeal letter to the insurance company explaining why their decision to deny your claim was wrong. We are here for any questions or issues that come up along the way.

When you have all the elements of your appeal ready to go, send everything to us for a final review. We’ll suggest any edits to your appeal letter, check your additional evidence to make sure it covers the gaps cited in the denial letter, and compile everything in a single PDF file for you to send to the insurance company.

Appeal Coaching continues until you have a final decision letter from the insurance company – whether that’s a quick approval or a drawn-out battle for your benefits. We will advise you every step of the way.

Sometimes, though, even with personalized coaching, an appeal can feel overwhelming. When you want more help, Appeal Writing can be the right choice. Instead of “you write, we review” Appeal Writing means “we write, you review.” All you have to do is approve the final appeal package and submit it to the insurance company.

Appeal Coaching and Appeal Writing include our guidance as you:

  • Develop additional evidence. We’ll help you communicate with your doctor(s) and other experts to gather the additional evidence you’ll need to support your claim.
  • Finish the final draft of your appeal letter. We’ll help you highlight the additional evidence you will submit in support of your claim and provide important context for your claim.
  • Submit your appeal package. When you have collected all your evidence, we’ll finalize your appeal letter and compile a single PDF file to send to the insurance company to ensure nothing gets “lost.”
  • Respond during the appeal. The insurance company often sends you new reports to comment on as they review and decide your appeal. We’ll help you plan when and how to respond.
  • Plan for what happens after the appeal. You will either win or lose the appeal, and it is important to be ready for the next steps either way.

The difference? With Appeal Writing, we do all the writing for you.

How It Works

Appeal Coaching and Appeal Writing mean working with us every step of the way until you receive a final appeal decision from the insurance company. We’re here for any questions or issues that come up as you work through the appeal plan we developed in your Disability Appeal Planning Session.

When you’re ready to submit the appeal, we’ll review the new medical records and other new evidence that supports your claim. We’ll also review and revise your appeal letter to make sure it remains responsive to the reasons given in the denial letter (without raising new issues that could complicate your claim). Next, we’ll compile everything so you have a single PDF to submit to the insurance company.

After you submit the appeal, the best outcome is to get a letter from the insurance company reversing their prior decision and paying your claim. Sometimes, though, the insurance company instead sends additional letters discussing their work on the appeal. They will give you the “option” to respond, which of course is not optional if you want to win the appeal, or keep your claim as strong as possible for the potential next step: litigation. (Remember, in general, no new evidence can be added to your claim after the insurance company issues their final appeal decision). We will review these letters and strategize with you how best to reply, provide additional guidance for your doctors as needed. We’ll review your response letter before you send it to the insurance company. We’ll keep going with as many rounds as necessary, until the insurance company issues their final appeal decision letter.

After your appeal is decided, we’ll discuss the next steps with you, win or lose.
